How Sculptra Works for You

Collagen is the protein that gives the skin structure and support, but our bodies produce less and less of it as we age. By the time we reach our mid-forties, we may have already lost 25% of the collagen in our skin. Sculptra in The Woodlands and Spring, TX, works by activating your skin's ability to produce collagen, increasing your face’s structural support, and addressing the hollowing of the temples, cheeks, and chin. Sculptra sets itself apart from other dermal fillers by stimulating your natural tissues, creating natural results.

Sculptra is just one of more than 60 procedures we offer, both surgical and non-surgical in nature, and we pride ourselves on our ability to offer patients a truly integrated and comprehensive approach to aesthetics. To learn more about how we can help you restore your youthful glow, reach out to us at our Spring, TX, location and speak with a member of our team to set up your initial consultation today.

Our Approach to Sculptra Aesthetic Treatments

We typically think of Sculptra Aesthetic as the go-to product when patients come to us for what we call “pan-facial” restoration. We favor placement along the receding bone of the temples, cheekbones, and jawline, where it works to subtly enhance the midface. We can also use Sculptra for thinning, crepey skin of the neck, decolletage, and body. These treatments are typically repeated several times, giving incremental results that transform over time, and our team will work with you to develop a treatment schedule that works for you.

Your Initial Sculptra Consultation

Before your initial consultation in The Woodlands and Spring, TX, we will speak with you on the phone to learn more about your health history, your previous aesthetic experiences, and your goals. During your consultation, your Patient Experience Coordinator and Dr. Cho or Dr. Chiang will discuss your concerns in more depth, and the doctor will assess your face and neck to suggest treatment options that would be most impactful for you. Many times, an integrated approach will be presented as we like to share how we can achieve the best results.

We’ll also take the time to explain exactly what you can expect on the day of your treatment, giving you a clear idea of both the procedure and your aftercare experience. We’ll answer any questions you might have, so you can enjoy peace of mind as you get ready for your exciting results. After discussing your options, your Patient Experience Coordinator will review quotes and coordinate with you the next steps. Our team will be available to you at all times should you ever have any questions about this procedure or the others we offer.

Your consultation will also give us the opportunity to explore other products and services that can be administered alongside Sculptra, including:

  • Facelift, neck lift, and lip lift surgery. Sculptra is often offered alongside these surgical procedures to create impressively comprehensive results.
  • Skin resurfacing options, including PRP microneedling, chemical peels, DiamondGlow, and our customizable signature facials, can also help you enjoy an improved sense of tone and texture in the treatment area.

Treating Cellulite With Sculptra

The Five Rs of Facial Rejuvenation

Our signature approach to full facial rejuvenation, coined the “The Five Rs to Facial Rejuvenation,” is designed to globally address the signs of aging and achieve long-lasting results. Each R works together to restore different layers of the face using a combination of surgical and non-surgical procedures. This advanced method includes relaxing muscles, replenishing lost volume, restoring the skin, repositioning the tissues, and reducing facial volume.

R1 – Relax Muscles

We help to relax the muscles and smooth out the appearance of wrinkles by addressing the forehead, crow’s feet, frown lines, masseter lines, chin, and lip lines with muscle relaxer treatments like Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Daxxi. Muscle relaxers also help to reduce migraines, excessive sweating and gummy smiles.

R2 – Replenish Lost Volume

Whether you have volume loss from weight loss or due to the aging process, we can help replenish the volume and contour the face with fillers like Juvéderm, Restylane, RHA, Sculptra, or Radiesse. When combining relaxation of the muscles (R1) with replenishing lost volume (R2) it can make a tremendous difference. We can enhance your results when using R2 in combination with volume reduction techniques (R5), repositioning the tissue (R4), and restoring the skin (R3).

R3 – Restore the Skin

At Integrated Aesthetics, we offer a robust portfolio of skin resurfacing and tightening devices to help improve the texture, health, and appearance of your skin. Depending on whether the focus is improving discoloration, pore size, fine lines, or mild skin laxity, we offer different options that target different skin concerns.

R4 – Reposition the Tissue

As we get older, our tissues start to sag down. Anything we can do to reposition the tissue can help give you a more lifted appearance. Surgically, we can do a facelift (mini, full, or extended) or neck lift. On the minimally invasive side, we can use threads like Silhouette InstaLift, PDO threads, or MyEllevate to internally lift and reposition the tissues.

R5 – Reduce Facial Volume

Sometimes, instead of having volume lost as we age, we develop excess fullness. It can be fullness under our chin (double chin) or in the jowl area. If we reduce the fullness in the double chin region, it’s also going to help define the transition from the lower face to the neck. This can be done with procedures that either dissolve the fat (Kybella), tighten or melt the fatty tissue (AccuTite), remove the fat (Liposuction), or even freeze the fat (CoolSculpting).

The Sculptra Treatment Experience

After the skin in the treatment is numbed with a topical anesthetic, Sculptra Aesthetic will be carefully injected according to a treatment pattern that you and your practitioner developed together. In many cases, the treatment addresses the temples, cheeks, nasolabial folds, jawline, and chin. You may feel you look a little swollen immediately after your treatment, but this will fade quickly. You will receive a gentle massage before you go home, at which point you’ll be free to rejoin your normal routine as soon as you feel comfortable doing so.

Recovery After Sculptra Injections

After the injection, you will massage treated areas for five minutes, five times a day, for five days. We will ask you to eat a healthy diet, including vitamin C and protein. After several days, you will notice that your face resorbs the water that was injected with Sculptra Aesthetic.

The Sculptra Aesthetic will remain in your skin, where it works to continue stimulating collagen production and essentially rejuvenate your look from the inside out. Your final results will be evident four to six weeks after your last session of Sculptra in The Woodlands and Spring, TX.

Do you offer alternative procedures?

Dermal fillers (hyaluronic acid fillers) and Radiesse are alternatives for restoring volume and fine lines.

What else do I need to know?

  • If you want immediate results, this may not be the right treatment for you. Our team will work with you, however, to explore the various other options that we offer. With more than 60 choices available to you, we’re confident that we can help you meet your cosmetic goals and love the results.
  • It takes multiple sessions, spaced several weeks apart, to create your final results.
  • Sculptra is not for use around the eyes or the lips.

Are there any risks involved?

If too much Sculptra Aesthetic is injected into a small area, there is a small risk that the body can respond by creating nodules. If they are troublesome, saline (salt water) can be injected to help break them up. In general, though, these nodules rarely occur in our practice, are not easily seen, and resolve on their own.

How can Sculptra help me?

Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable that is designed to fill wrinkles and reduce hollow, sunken cheeks. The treatment increases your body’s natural production of collagen, which is key for tightening the skin.

How does Sculptra work?

Sculptra targets one of the underlying causes of the signs of aging: collagen loss. During the course of your Sculptra treatments, your body’s collagen supply is gradually replaced, and volume is restored to key areas of the face. Over time, you may notice that your wrinkles, creases, and folds are smoothed over, leaving you with a rejuvenated and youthful look.

What areas can you treat with Sculptra?

In the face, Sculptra Aesthetic helps to add support, especially along the temples, cheeks, and jawline; fill in hollows; and help with etched-in lines or depressions from scars.

On the body, Sculptra Aesthetic can be used in any area to improve the quality of your skin, including crepey neck skin; etched-in decolletage lines; and saggy skin of arms, elbows, and knees. Sculptra Aesthetic can also be used to lift and round the buttocks and help with the presence of cellulite.

When will I see my results?

Sculptra’s effect is a gradual process that depends on your body’s immune response to the medication. Your results will improve over time as the treatment helps your body produce natural collagen. Patients typically appreciate their final results several weeks after their last treatment.

What are the side effects and risks?

Immediately after treatment, it is common to feel discomfort for a few days, especially with eating. There is also the possibility of minor swelling and bruising that may last for several days.

There is a low risk of developing a small bump in an area where the body has formed too much collagen. In the vast majority of cases, the bumps are small and can be detected by feel but are not visible and typically resolve on their own.

Is there any downtime required?

You’ll be able to continue with your regular day-to-day activities right after the procedure. Some patients plan their treatments around their social activities to allow some time for potential swelling and/or bruising to resolve.
