Love Your Youthful Looks with Microneedling

Microneedling with PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is a non-invasive procedure designed to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and tighten your skin and is also sometimes called the “vampire facial” or “collagen induction therapy.” Your aesthetician will use a hand-held microneedling device to penetrate your skin and kick-start your body’s production of collagen to create younger-looking skin.

We favor the hand-held Eclipse MicroPen Evo, a cordless dermal microneedling device with advantages over older devices that allow your aesthetician to customize your treatment for predictable and optimum clinical results.

Our Integrated Microneedling Approach

Dermal fillers and other injectables are sometimes used in conjunction with microneedling. However, it is best to wait for several days or a week before additional treatments.  We will discuss your options with you during your consultation.

Your microneedling treatment can be performed in a variety of ways to best suit your needs and maximize your results. These include the following:

  • Microneedling with topical PRP
  • Microneedling with injected PRP
  • Microneedling with hyaluronic acid
  • Microneedling with Sculptra

The Benefits of Microneedling

  • Microneedling with PRP is a non-invasive treatment that effectively reduces the presence of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • There is a low risk of side effects.
  • The procedure takes only a few minutes to complete.

Your Microneedling
Treatment Experience

Your aesthetician will apply a topical anesthetic cream to the target area an hour before your microneedling PRP treatment. A practitioner will draw blood from a vein in your arm, which is then placed in a centrifuge to isolate platelets for your PRP treatment.

The microneedling device contains sterile needles that penetrate the skin. Your skin is cleansed, and your aesthetician will glide the device over your skin. The sensation experienced by patients during treatment can be compared to a mild sandpaper sensation.

After the area is treated, your aesthetician will apply the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) that will release several essential growth factors and signaling proteins to improve the tone and texture of your skin without any risk of allergic reactions.

After Your Microneedling Procedure

You will be instructed to avoid alpha hydroxy acid, retinol products, beta hydroxy acid, and vitamin C-based skincare products for at least two hours after your microneedling procedure. You will also be told to avoid direct sun exposure, exercise, and strenuous activity for 24 hours. You should not go swimming the day after your microneedling with PRP treatment.

The Five Rs of Facial Rejuvenation

Our signature approach to full facial rejuvenation, coined the “The 5Rs to Facial Rejuvenation,” is designed to globally address the signs of aging and achieve long-lasting results. Each R works together to restore different layers of the face using a combination of surgical and non-surgical procedures. This advanced method includes relaxing muscles, replenishing lost volume, restoring the skin, repositioning the tissues, and reducing facial volume.

R1 – Relax Muscles

We help to relax the muscles and smooth out the appearance of wrinkles by addressing the forehead, crow’s feet, frown lines, masseter lines, chin, and lip lines with muscle relaxer treatments like Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Daxxi. Muscle relaxers also help to reduce migraines, excessive sweating ,and gummy smiles.

R2 – Replenish Lost Volume

Whether you have volume loss from weight loss or due to the aging process, we can help replenish the volume and contour the face with fillers like Juvéderm, Restylane, RHA, Sculptra, or Radiesse. When combining relaxation of the muscles (R1) with replenishing lost volume (R2) it can make a tremendous difference. We can enhance your results when using R2 in combination with volume reduction techniques (R5), repositioning of the tissue (R4), and restoring the skin (R3).

R3 – Restore the Skin

At Integrated Aesthetics, we offer a robust portfolio of skin resurfacing and tightening devices to help improve the texture, health, and appearance of your skin. Depending on whether the focus is improving discoloration, pore size, fine lines, or mild skin laxity, we offer different options that target different skin concerns.

R4 – Reposition the Tissue

As we get older, our tissues start to sag down. Anything we can do to reposition the tissue can help give you a more lifted appearance. Surgically, we can do a facelift (mini, full, or extended) or neck lift. On the minimally invasive side, we can use threads like Silhouette InstaLift, PDO threads, or MyEllevate to internally lift and reposition the tissues.

R5 – Reduce Facial Volume

Sometimes, instead of having volume lost as we age, we develop excess fullness. It can be fullness under our chin (double chin) or in the jowl area. If we reduce the fullness in the double chin region, it’s also going to help define the transition from the lower face to the neck. This can be done with procedures that either dissolve the fat (Kybella), tighten or melt the fatty tissue (AccuTite), remove the fat (Liposuction), or even freeze the fat (CoolSculpting).

Do you offer alternative procedures?

There are many alternatives to microneedling to treat fine lines and wrinkles. Dr. Chiang will meet with you to recommend the procedure that is right for you. Alternative procedures include Morpheus8 (Microneedling + Radiofrequency); chemical peels; IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy; laser resurfacing; and Dermal Infusions.

What is automated microneedling?

Automated Microneedling (also known as Epidermal Collagen Induction Therapy or ECIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, and the improvement of the skin’s texture, tone, and color. During this procedure, the Eclipse MicroPen® is used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to aid in the production of collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker epidermis with a softer appearance of wrinkles. Eclipse MicroPen® Elite also creates micro-channels that allow topical gels, creams, and serums to be absorbed more effectively, enhancing the effects in deeper layers of the skin.

What are the benefits of microneedling?

This procedure reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improves your skin tone and texture, and creates softer, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. The Eclipse Micro-Pen® Elite can improve the appearance of uneven skin tone, acne scars, traumatic scars, and stretch marks.

What areas of the body can you treat with microneedling?

Micro-Pen® Elite can be used on all parts of the body, including the face, neck décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, and back.

How is the procedure performed?

A sterile cartridge containing 12 tiny micro-points is attached to the Micro-Pen® Elite. Your skin-care professional will apply sterile saline to your skin and select the appropriate pen position based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.

What does microneedling feel like?

The feeling associated with the Eclipse Micro-Pen® Elite is similar to sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating tip makes the treatment more comfortable.

What else do I need to know?

  • The results of microneedling with PRP are temporary.
  • Multiple treatments are needed to get the full benefit.
  • At-home devices can damage your skin and leave scars.

Are there risks involved?

Microneedling with PRP is considered to be a safe procedure when performed by a well-trained aesthetician. Some people find that their skin becomes red, warm, itchy, or tight for a couple of days after treatment.

When will I see the results of microneedling?

Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks. Results can continue to improve up to six months after the treatment.
