Understanding Body Composition
Why BMI Isn’t Enough
BMI is a common metric for surgical risk assessment, but true metabolic health involves more than just weight. Body composition provides a clearer picture by measuring fat, muscle, bone, and water proportions.
InBody Analysis for Precise Health Insights
At Integrated Aesthetics, we use InBody to measure body composition accurately. This quick, non-invasive test (15-120 seconds) breaks down your weight into muscle, fat, and water percentages to guide your body contouring plan.
Interpreting InBody Results: Body Types
- D-Curve Body Type: High skeletal muscle mass (SMM) relative to weight and body fat. Common in athletes, this shape is considered ideal for metabolic health.
- I-Curve Body Type: Balanced SMM and body fat mass. This body type benefits from either muscle gain or fat reduction for optimal health.
- C-Curve Body Type: Lower SMM relative to weight and fat mass. This category includes overweight, underweight, and some healthy individuals who should focus on increasing muscle and reducing fat.
